An absolutely incredible hand carved lava pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece features an oval shaped lava cameo, which depicts "Terpsichore", the Greek muse of dance and the lyre. She is depicted standing atop a small tuft of grass which features small, blooming flowers. The muse is dressed in flowing garments, which seem to be flowing in the wind and surrounding her. Her hair is in a loose updo, and she is playing the lyre with both of her hands. The cameo is set within a 14k gold bezel setting, and the back of the pin features a simple pin clasp. A truly marvelous pin, this piece would be the perfect gift for any mythology fan or cameo lover!
Measurements: The pin hangs 1 3/4" long, measures 1 1/2" wide, and approximately 1/2" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is very good. The lava cameo is intact and free of any damage. The gold bezel setting and pin clasp are both secure and intact.
